Lina de Feria Barrios

Cuban poet and essayist. Graduated with a degree in Philology from the University of La Habana in 1976. She has worked as a writer and editor in various serial publications, while also carrying out profound creative work, to the point of being considered today one of the most prominent voices of current feminine poetry. She received the David Prize in 1967 with the book "Casa que no existía", shared with Luis Rogelio Nogueras, Wichy. In 2008 she obtained the Nicolás Guillén Prize, convened by the Instituto Cubano del Libro and Editorial Letras Cubanas, for her book "Ante la pérdida del Safari a la jungla". She was Editor-in-Chief of the cultural magazine El Caimán Barbudo. In 2005, she was nominated for the National Literature Prize. In 2015 she received the Prize Teacher of Youth awarded by AHS.

She appears in numerous anthologies from Cuba and around the world. In 2008 she obtained the Nicolás Guillén Prize, convened by the Instituto Cubano del Libro and Editorial Letras Cubanas, for her book Ante la pérdida del Safari a la jungla.

Literary Career
She received the David Prize in 1967 with the book Casa que no existía, shared with Luis Rogelio Nogueras, Wichy. Following the publication of volumes titled A mansalva de los años, 1990; El ojo milenario, 1995; Rituales del inocente, 1996 and A la llegada del delfín, she has been a recipient of the Critics' Prize on four occasions. She was Editor-in-Chief of the cultural magazine El Caimán Barbudo and in 2005, she was nominated for the National Literature Prize.

She worked as a writer for the cultural page of the newspaper Juventud Rebelde in 1967 and was a notes writer for Radio Enciclopedia during the period from 1972 to 1980. She also served as a literary advisor in Güines between the years 1986 and 1988 and in the early 1990s was an editor at Editorial José Martí.

As one of the most distinctive voices of her generation, she appears in multiple poetic anthologies published in the United States, Spain, France, Great Britain, Austria, Switzerland, Czechoslovakia, Mexico, Venezuela, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Nicaragua, and her work has received the attention of several degree theses in universities in the United States, France, and Cuba.

In Madrid, Spain, the poetry magazine Autogiro (No. 1, 1998) published her book El ojo milenario in its entirety. She has given recitals in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

She was invited to the Zócalo Fair in Mexico City in 2004 and 2005. In the second of these years she attended the presentation of the Mexican edition of her book A mansalva de los años. As a researcher and literary critic, she has published essays in magazines in Cuba and Spain, and has distinguished herself in the study of some of the most relevant poets of the Orígenes Group. She has been a member of the Association of Writers of UNEAC since 1993. She is an Ambassador of the World Poets Movement in Cuba.
