Jorge Alfonso, el Yoyo

Died: May 13, 2011

===BODY===
Jorge Alfonso, as he was known (1945-2011), developed his professional life in the journalism sector for 40 years as a sports editor-writer for the long-established magazine Bohemia; furthermore, he was a professor-researcher of the History of Physical Culture at the Instituto Superior de Cultura Física Manuel Fajardo.

For several years, he was an active collaborator on the National Baseball Series website on Radio Rebelde.

In his journalism career, he published various books, among which are: Viva y en Juego (1988), Puños Dorados (1989), Guía Juegos Deportivos Panamericanos (1991), ¿Conoces Deportes? (1995), Con las bases llenas (2002), Curiosidades beisboleras (2009) and Apuntes para la Historia de la Cultura Física (2010).

Currently, three other books of his are in the editing process: Monarcas Olímpicos, Béisbol cubano: pasado y presente, and Azules de Corazón

Stubborn to the core, he defended his reasons with vehemence. Thus he also offered his heart and his blood.
Of temperament—jocular or cantankerous—depending on circumstances.

A pedagogue by nature, he was always ready to take on the classroom. In his final stage he taught classes at the Instituto Superior de Cultura Física Comandante Manuel Fajardo, being retired. He was an active collaborator on the digital sites of Radio Rebelde, Cubasí and COCO

He possessed a vast professional body of work that amounts to around 1,500 journalism pieces.

A good son, a better father, an excellent friend.
