Javier Díaz

Javier Díaz is a Cuban journalist born in San José de las Lajas, in Mayabeque province. He earned a degree in Social Communication in 2011 and began his career at Cuban radio and television stations before emigrating from the island in 2015.

He joined Telemundo 51 in Miami in 2016, where he covered major stories for the Cuban community, including the death of Fidel Castro. Since November 2018 he has been with Univision, where he has stood out for his coverage of breaking news, immigration and investigative reporting.

In October 2024 he took over the anchor desk for Univision Miami's weekend newscasts, replacing Mario Vallejo, and in August 2026 was named co-anchor of the station's 6 p.m. newscast alongside Jenny Padura.
