Héctor Carmelo Fernández Fernández

===BODY===
He was born in Matanzas province, where he completed his primary education. He completed his secondary education at the Instituto de segunda enseñanza de Villa Guises, where he participated in student protests organized against the Batista regime.

With the triumph of the revolution, he began his medical studies in Ciudad de La Habana. He graduated as a doctor of medicine in 1965, being part of the first graduation of doctors trained and graduated by the revolution at Pico Turquino.

Once graduated, he was transferred to the former Oriente province to work at the Hospital Provincial Docente Clínico-Quirúrgico "Saturnino Lora" in Santiago de Cuba, where years later he completed his specialty in Otolaryngology, receiving his specialist title in 1970. Due to the healthcare needs of the province, he was requested to remain there.

He completed an internationalist mission in the República Popular de Angola from 1992 to 1994, working as an ENT specialist in a hospital. He provided medical care to government leaders of that sister country and to members of the FAPLA. He chaired the disciplinary committee of the health contingent in Luanda. He received the medal of Internationalist Worker.

He currently works at the Hospital Infantil Docente Sur in Santiago de Cuba.

He has been a Full Member of the Sociedad Cubana de ORL since 1978.

Scientific and Research Background
He has participated in national and international scientific events, where he has presented relevant papers.

He served on teaching categorization and category change committees, as well as on year-end promotion and state resident specialty committees, as well as on scientific conference and forum committees.

Co-author of the research project for the treatment of papillomatosis with Interferon Alpha.

Mentor and advisor for several thesis works for residency completion, scientific works by medical students. He has published various papers in national scientific journals. He holds the teaching rank of auxiliary professor. He serves as a consulting professor of the specialty.
