A graduate with a Doctor of Medicine degree, specialist of First Grade and Second Grade in Biostatistics (1984 and 1987, respectively), Professor Julia worked in various institutions, and in September 1997 joined the National School of Public Health, standing out for her professional development with the following trajectory:
She completed a Master's in Public Health, obtaining her master's degree in 2001, and achieved the title of Doctor in Health Sciences in 2007. She was a Full Professor and Consultant, with 34 years of experience as a teacher.
She was a member of the Cuban Societies of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Public Health, Obstetrics and Gynecology, in which she was a member of the Biostatistics section and founder of the Climacteric section. She was a Latin American expert in Climacteric and Menopause.
She produced more than 90 publications and contributed to the training of specialists in Biostatistics, master's degree holders, diploma holders, and doctors in sciences among other academic figures. She had active participation in teaching as a tutor and advisor in thesis completion work for the aforementioned figures and led various research projects with modesty and simplicity.
She fulfilled an internationalist mission in the Republic of Nicaragua in the 1980s and in the Republic of Honduras from 2010 to 2013.
She received 17 recognitions for different scientific works as a contribution to health sciences through participation in the Science and Technology Forum and Health Awards.
Despite her illness, she continued contributing to teaching and science with her utmost dedication and work.
