Died: November 9, 1989
Actress and founder, together with her son Sergio Corrieri, of the Teatro Escambray Group.
She worked in the Prometeo group, directed by Francisco Morín with Sangre verde, by Giovanninetti (1957).
She participated in the early productions of the Teatro Estudio Group; she performed in "The Good Woman of Setzuan" (1959) and directed "Ardent Heart", by J. Patrick and "The Anniversary", by Anton Chekhov (1960).
Director at the CDN of The Saint, by E. Manet (1964); Midnight Mass, by P. Karvas (1964); Requiem for Yarini, by Carlos Felipe (1965) and of the Dramatic Workshop (1965-1968) The Crucible, by Arthur Miller (1968).
In November 1968, she founded in the central mountainous region of the country, together with her son Sergio Corrieri, the Teatro Escambray group, for which she wrote The Trial (1972) directing some of the group's social research, which culminated in new titles such as The Family of Benjamín García, by Gerardo Fernández (1985).
In the Escambray, together with a group of followers, she starred in an unusual experience, a controversial, questioning theater that was born, defined itself, and redimensioned in response to the problems and expectations of the peasantry for whom it was intended, an audience that had never attended a theatrical performance and that suddenly found itself transformed into a protagonist, actor, and spectator simultaneously of what was happening on stage.
She participated in the third episode of the Cuban film Stories of the Revolution directed by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea in 1960 and in the second story of Lucía directed by Humberto Solás in 1968.
In 1988 she received the Félix Varela Order.
She died in Havana on November 9, 1989 after leaving her mark on the practice of Teatro Escambray.
