Born in Trinidad in 1840.
Coming from a family of theater artists, she made her theatrical debut at five years old. At nine years old, she was granted the title of honorary member of the Liceo de La Habana.
She performed alongside the best Spanish actors working in Cuba, and traveled successfully throughout Spain, Mexico, Venezuela, and Puerto Rico. Her Adriana Lecouvreur, or her Margarita from The Lady of the Camellias, or her Flora from The Daughter of the Flowers, made her one of the best interpreters of the Spanish language. She premiered in Caracas The Daughter of the Flowers, by Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda. Her figure became a symbol of dramatic theater in Cuba.
Retired at the end of the century, following the death of her husband, she lived in Puerto Rico.
She died in Cuba on August 10, 1920.
