Mundito González
He was born in the eastern region of our country in Bayamo, a city designated as a "National Monument" in Granma province.
He began his professional career in 1963, and initially received vocal lessons from professor René Capote and guitar lessons from Nerio González. His first performances were made on the local radio station CMKX, where accompanied by the trio "Los Pedruscos" he performed daily. He adopted the stage name Mundito González because it seemed more artistic. His magnificent voice reminds us of the famous light tenors Pedro Vargas, a Mexican, and René Cabel, a Cuban.
González Ramírez burst onto the scene in the capital of our island in 1974, after having carried out an outstanding career in his beautiful region which he remembers with great affection, as were his nights in the cabaret "Bayamo" and other cultural venues always giving his best for the enjoyment of his fellow Bayamo citizens.
In the hospitable city of Santiago de Cuba this admirable performer served as a leading figure in the beautiful cabaret "San Pedro del Mar" for nine years in the various productions that took place there night after night for the entertainment of its regular visitors.
It was the maestros Adolfo Guzmán and the composer Alberto Vera, who upon hearing the excellent voice of Mundito at one of the "Festivals of the Creator" that took place in Santiago de Cuba, who urged him to move to the capital of the country where he would surely have more opportunities to develop his talented voice.
Already in Havana, supported by his brilliant performances, Mundito began his artistic work in the cabaret "Copa Room" at the Riviera Hotel, in the main cabaret of the "Hotel Capri", in the "Parisién" of the Hotel Nacional, the "Caribe" cabaret at the Habana Libre Hotel, and in various first-rate collateral activities.
His performances on "Radio Nacional" and "Televisión Cubana" were very important presentations for the artist from Bayamo, which have taken his image and his voice to every corner of our Caribbean archipelago.
The festivals "Adolfo Guzmán", "Benny Moré", "Juan Arrondo", "Habaneras en La Habana" and others, provided the opportunity for the presence and voice of the already famous divo to be applauded colossally, in which he received considerations and distinctions of all kinds. Nevertheless, only a single commercial long-playing record has been obtained from this magnificent performer. Most of the songs that this singer has popularized have been non-commercial recordings made for promotion on Cuban radio and TV.
By this date González Ramírez has been performing uninterruptedly for four decades, for which reason the performer is immersed in developing several important performances that he has set as goals, and we hope he develops them with the success to which we are accustomed.
For Mundito González, his international experiences are like a seal that accredits him as a successful performer on a worldwide level, his presentations in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Panama, Costa Rica, Peru, Italy, Spain and in North America have applauded his transparent and perfectly tuned voice with the deliriousness of what is worth and shines with its own light.
In Colombia the record label FUENTES recorded a CD for him with the title:
"Mundito González, The golden voice of bolero in Cuba" released in 2001.

His repertoire encompasses the entire range of Cuban music and in general he works with the contemporary international songbook, his most expressive and romantic strength, as well as his most emotional delivery develops in bolero and Cuban trova.
Mundito is part of the excellence catalog of the "Adolfo Guzmán Music Center" and since 1994 has been part of the artistic cast of the "Dos Gardenias Tourist Complex", where he performs frequently since its founding.

Harold Gramatges expressed on one occasion:
Many have been the singers who have cultivated the genres of the characteristic musical wealth of the Cuban sound universe. But, when we think of that resplendent jewel that is the bolero, the image of Mundito González appears, and with him, his privileged voice, his musical culture and his exquisite sensitivity bestowing upon the listener the delight of venturing into the profound secrets of music.
