Claudio Luis Puig Rodríguez

Cuban singer. He is known for his interpretation of songs such as "Amando locamente", "Deja que te diga", "Yo te amo tanto" and "No te aferres a mi amor" (written by Germán Nogueira), among others.

Since childhood he felt a strong attraction to music although during his childhood and adolescence he did not develop any aptitude as a singer; his favorite pastime was listening to all types of musical genres. Over time he finishes his studies and begins his working life in 2010 as a security guard at the Convento de Belén, a humanitarian institution of the Office of the Historian located in Old Havana.

At that time, at the age of 19, young Claudio Rodríguez begins to discover that he possessed abilities for singing which becomes a hobby. One day at work an activity is held and the director of the Convento de Belén surprises him with an invitation to sing at said activity, to which the young man responded with a resounding yes and to his surprise when he took the stage he found a large audience estimated at about 400 people; he was very well received in that first presentation.

Motivated by that unexpected triumph he begins to sing at parties and family gatherings until one day José Valladares recommends that he study singing and introduces him to who would become his teacher, tenor Edilio Hernández, founder of the National Lyric Theater of Cuba and graduate of the Teatro Alla Scala academy (in Milan).

It is now 2012 and the young singer begins to regularly attend various activities organized by the cultural centers of the municipalities Regla and Guanabacoa while continuing his singing lessons and in his presentations he performs mostly romantic-style songs. That same year he performs at the popular nightclub La Casa de 18 by Artex as a guest at José Valladares' show where he shares the stage with great figures of Cuban music.

In 2013, he decides to dedicate himself completely to music and continues performing in community spaces and also in shows such as La Peña de Diana Rosa Suárez, La Peña de Rosalía Arnáez, the piano bar Delirio Habanero, and the piano bar Habaneciendo.

During 2014 he continues his singing studies with tenor Edilio Hernández, and was also a student at La Academia de Canto de José Luis Cortés (El Tosco).

In April 2014 he debuts on national radio with the bolero "Mañana será un día para amar" written by José Valladares, with which he achieves some recognition and is invited to various programs on Radio Progreso such as Alegrías de sobremesa, Bolereando, Epigramas and Discoteca popular. His music is also broadcast in programs such as Estaciones and A esta hora (Radio Rebelde) and on Radio Coco CMCK in the programs De tarde en tarde and Sabor cubano.

In November 2014 he debuts on radio with the bolero "Acuérdate de mí", also written by José Valladares.

In addition, he has performed at Teatro Milanés (in Pinar del Río), cinema theater Yara, cinema theater Riviera, Mariana Grajales theater, and at several of the main nightclubs in Havana such as Barbaram Pepito's Bar, El Jelengue de Areíto (EGREM), El Hangar, the Ipanema Lounge at the Copacabana Hotel, Fresa y Chocolate (cabaret), the piano bar Delirio Habanero and the piano bar Habaneciendo.

2015
In August 2015 he records the song "Yo te amo tanto", a ballad by renowned Cuban composer and producer Germán Nogueira which was written specifically for Claudio achieving a very good reception from the moment of its debut.

In October 2015 he debuts a pop song titled "Enteramente mía", by Cuban composer Wilfredo Calderón which is broadcast with great success on radio reaching position #4 of the Hit Parade Nocturno on Radio Progreso, places #8 in the 25 most-listened pop-ballads in Cuba and reaches position #18 National, among other success lists.

His music begins to be broadcast by several national and provincial radio stations such as Radio Ciudad de La Habana, Radio Rebelde, Radio Taíno, Radio COCO, Radio Progreso, Radio Cadena Habana, among others. Between the months of August and December he is invited to very important programs such as Así, on Radio Rebelde where he was interviewed by renowned and multi-award-winning radio host Pedro Martínez Arcos in a special broadcast of that program dedicated to Claudio, also Estaciones (Radio Rebelde), Discoteca popular, Pensando en ti, Alegrías de sobremesa (Radio Progreso), Sabor cubano, De tarde en tarde, Estéreo música (Radio COCO), Pistacubana (Radio Ciudad de La Habana). He also makes his television debut on the program Momentos on Canal Educativo in a special broadcast dedicated to Germán Nogueira.

2016
2016 began with success as the song "Enteramente mía" climbed to #1 of the hit parade of the program Nocturno (on Radio Progreso), a position it maintained for four weeks. This meant a major achievement for the young performer's career given that it is an emblematic program of Cuban radio and one of the most listened to in the country. It also reaches position #6 in the list of the 25 most-listened Pop-Ballads in Cuba, #16 National, #16 TOP 100, etc.

In mid-March the ballad "Yo te amo tanto" debuts in the success lists reaching #8 of the hit parade of Nocturno.

In early June the single "Yo te amo tanto" climbs to #4 of the hit parade of Nocturno (on Radio Progreso), #3 on Radio Sandino (Pinar del Río), #5 of the 20 emerging artists of Cuba (Pista Cubana) and is heard in the main radio programs in Cuba for which he grants interviews for some of them such as Música viva, Siempre en domingo, Estaciones (Radio Rebelde), Con acento cubano (Radio Taíno), Sabor cubano (Radio COCO), Discoteca popular (Radio Progreso) and the stellar 7:30 Juventud (Radio Cadena Habana). Also during these months he appears in television programs such as Momentos (Canal Educativo), Al mediodía (Cubavisión) and Todo música (Canal Educativo 2).

In the first week of October 2016 he launches his new single "Como esta noche, ninguna", by Wilfredo Calderón, which debuts at position #10 in the hit parade of the program Nocturno (Radio Progreso). His previous hits "Enteramente mía" and "Yo te amo tanto" continue to be heard on the radio, both songs have been broadcast on almost all Cuban radio stations in the highest-rated programs and also on television.

In the first week of November 2016 he is nominated for the "Premios Pistacubana" in the category "Emerging Artist of the Year", the news was announced through the website www.pistacubana.com, on social networks and national radio. Also his song "Como esta noche, ninguna" reaches #4 in the list of the 25 most-listened ballads in Cuba (PISTACUBANA) and position #2 in the Hit Parade of the program Nocturno (on Radio Progreso), which reaffirms the acceptance and growing popularity of the artist within the Cuban music universe.

2017
In February 2017 Claudio continues working hand in hand with successful composer and producer Germán Nogueira. The song "Como esta noche, ninguna" continues playing on the radio occupying positions on some success lists. During these days he is invited to radio interviews on programs such as Siempre en domingo (Radio Rebelde), Discoteca popular (Radio Progreso), Música para ti (Radio Cadena Habana) and also grants interviews to provincial radio stations such as Radio Fomento (Sancti Spiritus), Radio Sandino (Pinar del Río) and Radio Sagua (Villa Clara).

In early March his song "Yo te amo tanto" written by Germán Nogueira re-enters the lists reaching position #10 in the hit parade of Radio Sandino, a romantic ballad that since its debut has continued playing on the radio and in the public's preference.

In March 2017 the ballad "Yo te amo tanto" enters the success lists again and remains until July, reaffirming the performer's popularity. On June 29 he debuts on national radio with the bolero "No te aferres a mi amor", also written by Germán Nogueira, accompanied by El Trío Los Embajadores.

In October 2017, "No te aferres a mi amor" reaches positions in various hit parades from radio stations such as Radio Progreso, Radio Ciudad de La Habana, Radio Cadena Habana, Radio Camagüey, Radio Sandino as well as Pistacubana. He again grants interviews to some of the most-listened radio programs such as Discofiesta 98, Música viva, Estaciones, Cubatunight and Habana Radio, and also appears on some television programs. During these days he debuts on radio the song "Amando locamente", a pop-dance also written by Nogueira and performs on several television programs such as Momentos (Canal Educativo) and Al mediodía (Cubavisión).

At the end of 2017 he is part of the cast of artists that make up the cultural project Canciones de Germán Nogueira, a show that takes place every Saturday at one of the most important venues in Havana, Barbaram Pepito's Bar, which has received very good reviews in the media and has counted on the attendance of a large and loyal audience at each show, something that has been evident when viewing images on social networks.

2018
"No te aferres a mi amor" remained on the success lists for eight months since its debut.

By April 2018, the song "Amando locamente" reached #15 in the Pistacubana top 100, and occupied positions on various success lists of Radio Progreso, Radio Rebelde, Radio Cadena Habana, Radio Ciudad de La Habana, Radio Camagüey and Radio Sandino.

Throughout the year, Claudio appeared on television programs such as Al mediodía (Cubavisión), Hola, Habana (Canal Habana), Todo música (Canal Educativo 2), Momentos (Canal Educativo), De tarde en Casa (Canal Educativo 2), Tengo algo que decirte (Canal Educativo), and on Canal Clave.

The song "Amando locamente" was published by an international record company and included on the CD Éxitos de Germán Nogueira 2018, which is available in various digital stores such as Amazon, iTunes and Spotify. Additionally, the website Pistacubana.com published two press releases highlighting Claudio's achievements during 2018.

From this year on, Claudio's performances are heard on all radio stations in Cuba.

Claudio continues to be part of the cast of the "Proyecto Cultural Germán Nogueira y sus Invitados" at Barbaram Pepito's Bar (Artex).

2019
During 2019 Claudio continues rising and gaining ground in Cuba's rankings. The song "Amando locamente" remained for 66 consecutive weeks on the Cuban radio success lists. He continues with intensive promotion, numerous radio interviews and appears on different television programs on the channels Cubavisión, Canal Caribe, Canal Habana, Canal Educativo and Canal Educativo 2.

"Amando locamente" is the young artist's first single to transcend borders and begins to play on radios in Chile, Argentina, Spain, Peru, USA, Mexico, Uruguay, Paraguay, Canada, Guatemala and Israel. It even enters some success lists, mainly on TOP RADIO HD in Spain.

In July 2019 he debuts the song "Deja que te diga", a production by Germán Nogueira which immediately begins to play on all Cuban radio stations. This new single reaches high positions on the success lists and allows Claudio to achieve his first "top ten" (ten main radio hits). By October it ranks at position #15 on the success list of the radio station AJ Music Radio, in the United States.

In September 2019 he appeared on several main Cuban television programs such as Talla joven and Tengo algo que decirte, further reaffirming the young performer's popularity. Some of his previous hits such as "Yo te amo tanto", "Enteramente mía" and "No te aferres a mi amor" continue to be heard on Cuban radios.

Also during 2019 his name appears in several press releases dedicated to the artist or indirectly. His performance every Saturday at the Barbaram club is announced on the channels Cubavisión, Canal Habana and Canal Clave, as well as in various newspapers.

In November 2019 the Pistacubana website published an article called "100 ballads and songs of the decade", which included the song "No te aferres a mi amor" that Claudio Rodríguez had released in 2017.

Claudio continues to be part of the cast of the Proyecto Cultural Germán Nogueira y sus Invitados at Barbaram Pepito's Bar (Artex) where he performs every week. Because of this his name appears in newspapers and on the main promotional platforms.

2020
In 2020 he continues to play on Cuban and international radio with the song Deja que te diga as well as his appearances in the media and at cultural centers. His name appears in various press releases and he grants interviews to some newspapers such as Tribuna de La Habana, Periódico Trabajadores and some digital sites such as Cubaperiodistas, Uneac, Periódico Cubarte, Cubaplus, Radio COCO's website, Radio Enciclopedia, Radio Cadena Habana, Radio Ariguanabo, among others.

Also three songs performed by Claudio Rodríguez, "No te aferres a mi amor", "Yo te amo tanto" and "Amando Locamente" are included in the album Soñar Una Misma Verdad, Canciones de Germán Nogueira published by Bis Music. During October he is invited to participate in the "Primer Encuentro Virtual Latinoamericano de Boleros" sponsored by important cultural institutions of Venezuela. He performed with the song "No te aferres a mi amor". For his participation in this event he received recognition.

During 2021 he remains active despite the confinement caused by the pandemic, supporting from his social media profiles various campaigns so that people are aware and take all prevention measures against Covid19. He likewise offered various performances at vaccination points in Havana alongside other artists such as Nayu Méndez. His music continues to be heard on Cuban and international radio and he again appears on television programs.
