Professor and Scholar of Merit, Magrans Buch was born in Santiago de Cuba in 1932 and began his professional activity in 1963 at the "Joaquín Albarrán" Teaching Clinical Surgical Hospital, of which he was the founder of the Specialty and the Institute itself.

He was a member of the International Society of Nephrology. Founding Member of the Cuban Society of Nephrology. Founding Member of the Pan-American Society of Dialysis and Transplantation. Member of the Latin American Society of Nephrology.

Among his various contributions, it is noteworthy to highlight in the educational field the creation and development of the Nephrology specialty and especially the training of specialists from throughout the country in this specialty.

He has publications of scientific articles and chapters on his specialty in various books.

He contributed as a tutor and member of specialty and doctoral thesis committees for the training of Nephrology specialists.

He had extensive participation in national and international scientific events.
