Lili Rentería
Lili Rentería is the daughter of Lilian Llerena and Pedro Rentería, two renowned Cuban actors in theater, film, and television. In her adolescence, Lili became a popular personality as a host of a musical television program for young people, Para Bailar. She made an impression in the film Los sobrevivientes (1979) by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea, playing an unfortunate young lover.
But in the 1980s she became a top-level leading actress in theatrical productions—such as in "Mariana Pineda" by García Lorca, for which she earned recognition at international theater festivals and many awards in Cuba.
In 1982 she graduated from the Escuela Nacional de Arte. ENA was her foundation, but after having the great opportunity to work with Roberto Blanco, and spending six years in his group "Teatro Irrumpe", having seen them all since she was very young, contributed greatly to her career.
In 1991 she travels from Cuba to Venezuela, Radio Caracas Televisión (RCTV) opens its doors to her, and she participates in the soap opera "Por estas Calles" which premiered on June 3, 1992 until August 30, 1994.
Then she brings to life a character (Agripina) in another highly impactful soap opera of the 1990s, (Pura Sangre) also produced by RCTV, this soap opera ran from October 8, 1994 until May 26, 1995.
After getting married, she worked in Argentina, where she gave birth to her daughter Mariana.
She had a career in Venezuelan television and stood out among "Las chicas de oro" acting in Hispanic television in the United States where she played thousands of characters that she changed, chameleon-like, with true cleverness. She was the inspiring soul of Café Nostalgia, and founded the "Centro Cultural Educacional A&M" "Teatro Abanico" and "Academy of Arts and Minds" where she taught, produced and directed more than 50 theatrical pieces, art exhibitions, music concerts and multidisciplinary shows.
She returned to Havana in 2013 to participate in the Theater Festival as part of the cast of the play "Ana in the Tropics", a very beautiful story told in this production, filled with nostalgic, romantic, and daring moments. This was one of my great desires that sometimes stays with you, to be directed by Carlos Díaz, and his theater "El Público".
Currently, Lili lives in Miami, where she alternates television, scenic and theatrical education for children.
