Renowned Cuban actress who acted in films, television series, telenovelas and theater for more than three decades, she became a favorite of the public and critics. She died of cancer at age 63.
She graduated as a technician in Pathological Anatomy. She later studied at the Superior Institute of Art and graduated with a degree in Performing Arts in 1982.
In 1990 her character in the film "María Antonia", directed by Sergio Giral, established her as an actress of Cuban cinema. Her performances in the theatrical pieces "Contigo pan y cebolla", by Cuban playwright Héctor Quintero and "En el parque", by Russian writer Alexander Guelman, with staging by the Teatro Estudio group are especially remembered; a work she shared with Cuban actor Adolfo Llauradó in a theatrical season that was memorable for the public and specialized critics.
Recognized for her performance in popular Cuban telenovelas. Remembered and admired for her interpretation of the character 'Justa' in the telenovela "Tierra Brava".
In addition to teaching acting classes, she directed amateur and professional actors in community theater projects. She was part of the 'Teatro Estudio' group.
One of her most valued works in 2014 was her character of teacher Carmela in the award-winning film "Conducta", by Ernesto Daranas. Among the numerous accolades she deserved for her Carmela, is the Best Actress award, given by El Havana Film Festival New York in 2014.
She was very versatile, both in theater and in cinema and television and her performances in Cuba.
She died from cancer. The actress's ashes were scattered in the sea, adjacent to the Torreón de la Chorrera, near Restaurant 1830, in Vedado, Havana, Cuba.
