She was born in Havana. She began studying flute at age 11 at the Manuel Saumell school.

She lived in Venezuela between 1997-2000, competed in beauty pageants, represented the state of Vargas, at age 19, for the Miss Universe competition.

When she moved to Miami she resumed her music studies and graduated from Florida International University, FIU.
