The Cuban actress was born in Argentina. Daughter of Spanish actor José Berrio. She arrived in Havana at a very young age and from the beginning she worked as an actress in the dramatic company of Principal de la Comedia and as second soprano in the zarzuela company of Eulogio Velasco.
She made her debut in the Cuban genre with the title Correo aéreo (Actualidades theater, 1927). She later worked for the companies of Grenet (Regina theater, 1928) and Galarraga (Actualidades theater, 1929), among others. She was part of the Cuban zarzuela company Suárez-Rodríguez (Martí theater, 1931-36) and participated in the premieres of most of the works in its repertoire.
She was the first interpreter of the roles of Doña Rosa Sandoval and Charito Alarcón, both in Cecilia Valdés. Her work as a choreographer (August 1932) was widely celebrated, especially in the Havana premieres of La Habana que vuelve and Nuestro Teatro. She also worked for radio and film and actively participated in the development of Cuban television since its founding (1950).
In the 1960s she emigrated to the United States and there she acted in television and for the Pro Arte GRATELI group.
Ill with cancer, she died in a Miami hospital on March 30, 1991.
