Alexei Bell Quintero

Cuban baseball player, known as Tato Bell, Olympic silver medalist. A very offensive player who came to hold the all-time record for home runs in National Baseball Series. Despite his strength, he is also fast and a good base stealer: He has achieved 25 home runs and 25 stolen bases in the same season. He is the all-time leader in runs batted in during National Series with 111. He holds a degree in Physical Culture. He was part of the national team at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.

He was born in Santiago de Cuba. Son of Ana Belkis and Rigoberto Bell. He started playing baseball at age nine in the town of El Caney, on the outskirts of Santiago.

He attended the EIDE and ESPA. He participated in a Caribbean Series for young players in Venezuela in 1999. He was part of the national youth team and reached the Santiago de Cuba roster in 2002.

Family and friends, trying to find a resemblance to some adventure character, began calling him Tato, due to the similarity he had with Tato Venegas, a television character. With this nickname he attended the EIDE, the ESPA and is known among his teammates and fans in Santiago de Cuba.

He was the first Cuban batter to hit two grand slam home runs in the same inning. He holds the all-time record for runs batted in during National Baseball Series with 111, and was also the home run record holder with 31, surpassing Orestes Kindelán.

He was part of the national team at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008. During the Olympics he was the batting champion of the baseball tournament. That year he was elected as Cuba's best athlete in collective sports, thanks to his all-time record for home runs and runs batted in.

He participated in the XVII Intercontinental Baseball Cup held from October 23, 2010 in Taichung, Taipei, China where he stood out in obtaining the gold medal for the Cuban team, with an average of .440.

In June 2012 he was called again to the national baseball team to face the Nicaragua team in a preparatory matchup between both teams.
