Journalist, writer.
She was born in La Habana. She completed her primary and secondary studies at a religious school, "María Auxiliadora", and later studied at the Academia Pitman. She completed her university studies at the School of Journalism at the Universidad de La Habana. She studied French language at the Abraham Lincoln School of Languages.
With a long career in the Cuban press and forays into the international press, she has dedicated her professional life to the practice of journalism, fundamentally as a reporter, scriptwriter for informative and musical programs, and columnist. She earned a degree in Journalism in 1973. She has received various postgraduate courses and workshops as part of her constant effort for improvement, the most recent focusing on Universal Culture and Cuban Art.
She began her journalistic work at the newspaper Granma, in its cultural pages; founder of the Political Information News Program of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Ministry of Interior, of which she was also director; she created and directed for ten years the first magazine in Cuba aimed at young women, Muchacha; she served for three years as subdirector of Radio Taíno, the Cuban radio station for tourism; she has published in various media outlets: Bohemia, Verde Olivo, El Historiador, Mujeres, Muchacha, Juventud Rebelde, Radio Habana Cuba, Radio Rebelde, Radio Reloj, Radio Enciclopedia, and currently is an active contributor to digital press at Cubarte.
As a reporter, she covered the development of numerous national and international events held at the Palacio de las Convenciones, Ciudad de La Habana, between the 1980s and 1990s. On journalistic missions, she has traveled outside the Island, and among the cities visited are Moscú, Budapest, Georgia, Praga, and Sofía.
She holds the seal Laureada por la Cultura and the distinctions "Félix Elmuza" and "Juan Gualberto Gómez", the latter being awarded only once in recognition of a lifetime of work. She published the book Cementerios de La Habana in 1998.
She has received awards or mentions in competitions such as Excelencia Periodística, sponsored by the Cruz Roja Cubana and 26 de Julio, of the Unión de Periodistas de Cuba. She has participated as a juror in different press competitions. She holds various certifications that attest to her prominence in journalistic work. She is vice president of the press branch of the Unión de Historiadores de Cuba, and vice president of the Martiano Club of press "Gonzalo de Quesada".
