Cuban singer Dayami Lozada was murdered on the afternoon of Saturday, November 27 in Cancún, Mexico, where she had lived for several years, according to reports from international news media.
Lozada, known artistically as the "Barbie of salsa," was shot to death in her home. According to neighbors of the artist, who called emergency services after hearing the gunshots, the victim received at least five bullet impacts, according to the newspaper La Opinión.
According to the media outlet, one version of the events "indicates that two armed men entered Lozada's house with the intention of murdering her in cold blood and then fled in an unknown direction."
According to local authorities in the state of Quintana Roo, where the famous beach resort is located, the 44-year-old singer "presented direct bullet impacts which caused her death." Authorities are investigating whether it was a direct attack or another type of motive, the press report states.
The Cuban singer was the mother of three children, two of whom are minors. She had lived in Mexico for more than 15 years, where she worked in bars, nightclubs, and entertainment venues.
