The closer for the New York Yankees, Aroldis Chapman, shut down the duel against the Toronto Blue Jays, with a quick and economical appearance, to add his 25th save of the season, absolute leader of the American League.
The game, with a final score of 4 runs to 2, decided the subseries in favor of the New Yorkers, after 3 disputed games. So far this year the Yankees have won 6 of 9 games against the Blue Jays. By the end of 2019 both teams will have played 19 games, as divisional rivals in the East of the young circuit.
Aroldis Chapman, with only 8 pitches (5 of them strikes) resolved the ninth inning, with a 1-2-3 effort, with a strikeout, a ground ball and a line drive to center field, in that order.
This is the 25th save for the Cuban, being the seventh time he has achieved that number of saved games in a season, while reaching 261 in his career.
Chapman is having an excellent season, as always, and this time he shows an earned run average of 1.77 and a WHIP of 1.07.
In 2019 he has given up 51 strikeouts in 35 and 2/3 innings, allowing only one home run, 12 walks and 26 hits allowed, in 38 games pitched.
The Holguín native leads the American League with those 25 saves.
