Zelma Morales was a Cuban actress born on March 12, 1974, in Caibarién, Villa Clara. A graduate of the National School of Arts (ENA), she began her career in theater before transitioning to television, where she became one of the most recognized faces of Cuban soap operas over four decades of professional work.

Her television debut came in 1984 with the series La frontera del deber. She went on to star in and appear in numerous dramatic productions, including the telenovelas Si me pudieras querer, Polvo en el viento (2008), Destino Prohibido, Santa María del Porvenir (2011), and En tiempos de amar. One of her greatest acting challenges was the telenovela Tierra Brava, in which she simultaneously portrayed twin sisters Regina and Reina — a role that definitively cemented her popularity with Cuban audiences.

Zelma Morales passed away on April 12, 2026, in Miami, where she had been living since 2018. Her death caused great shock in the Cuban artistic world, which remembers her as a talented and dedicated figure, beloved by generations of viewers both on and off the island.
