Yumilka Ruiz proposal to belong to the Volleyball Hall of Fame

Cuban Yumilka Ruiz was presented among the candidates to enter the International Volleyball Hall of Fame class 2023. The former member of the Spectacular Brunettes of the Caribbean could join the group of Cuban women who are part of the select group.

Remembered for her participation in the mythical Cuban women's volleyball team, Yumilka has more than enough merits to inscribe her name among those chosen to immortalize her name among the best stars of this sport in its history.

Yumilka Ruiz keeps trophies and achievements in her home that are the envy of any athlete. Two Olympic titles also won in Atlanta and Sydney, plus a bronze in Athens 2004, are the calling card of the legendary number 1 of Cuba's national team. Yumilka also has Pan American and world titles to her credit.

The first Cuban to enter this select group of players was Regla Torres, in 2001. Then, in 2004, the legendary Mireya Luis entered and in the promotions of 2011 and 2019, Magaly Carvajal and Mirka Francia respectively. The last to enter was Taismary Agüero, in 2021.

Among the coaches, the one in charge of leading those teams of the 90s to glory, which achieved four consecutive Olympic medals, three of them gold, Eugenio George, also belongs to the Hall of Fame.
