The 2021 season for Yuli Gurriel has been tremendous. The player from Sancti Spíritus was the leader among batters in the American League with an average of .319, making him the first Cuban to reach such a milestone in the last 50 years.

On the night of November 7, the Gold Glove award winners were announced for the Major League campaign. The Cuban achieved the title among first basemen in the American League, ahead of Matt Olson (Oakland Athletics) and Jared Walsh (Los Ángeles Angels).
At 37 years old, Yuli Gurriel ?? is the oldest 1B to win a Gold Glove, surpassing Vic Power who won it at 36 years old in 1964. #DataWithSwing #CubanPride #RawlingsGoldGloveAwards

It is notable that Gurriel achieves this title at 37 years old and became the oldest player to achieve it in all of Major League Baseball history at first base. The merit is even greater if we take into account that until his arrival to the Big League (2016) he had never played that position.
