Yarisleidi Cirilo wins silver in the C1-200 meters at the Milan Canoe Sprint World Championships

Yarisleidi Cirilo Duboys won the silver medal in the final A of the C1-200 meters event, recording a time of 46.27 seconds, during the closing day of the Canoe Sprint World Championships held in the Italian city of Milan.

The first position went to Ukrainian Liudmyla Luzan, who managed to prevail with a time of 46.09 seconds, thus securing her second gold title at this championship, as she had previously also dominated the C1-500 meters event.

The bronze medal was awarded to neutral athlete Ekaterina Shliapnikova, with a time of 46.59 seconds, who had already placed third at the U-23 world championship held previously in Portugal.

Cirilo reaches this new success after achieving an Olympic bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Games, an edition in which the fastest race in history took place in the C1-200 meters discipline. On that occasion, victory went to Canadian Katie Vincent, while American Nevin Harrison finished in second place.

Previously, on July 27, Cirilo had become world champion in the U-23 category in Montemor-o-Velho, Portugal, with a time of 47.25 seconds, surpassing Spanish Viktoriia Yarchevska (48.08 s) and, once again, Ekaterina Shliapnikova (48.47 s). During the semifinals of that tournament, the Cuban had clocked an impressive time of 45.88 seconds, the best of the entire competition.

With these consistent high-level results, Yarisleidi Cirilo Duboys reaffirms herself as one of the great figures of world canoeing.
