The Cuban Yaimé Pérez won the silver medal today in the discus throw, corresponding to the Diamond League held in Paris, where Croatian Sandra Perkovic won with a throw of 66.08 meters.
Pérez, world champion in Doha 2019 and bronze in Tokyo 2020, achieved a throw of 65.31 meters, which displaced the champion of the Japanese summer games to third place, American Valarie Allman (64.51).
The other Caribbean discus thrower in competition, Denia Caballero, finished in sixth place with a throw of 61 meters and 95 centimeters.
In the high jump, Australian Nicola Mcdermott won, runner-up in Tokyo, with a jump of one meter and 98 centimeters, while in the 400 meters with hurdles, Panamanian Gianna Woodruff achieved the title with a time of 54.44 seconds.
Among the men, in the pole vault, Sweden's world record holder Armand Duplantis emerged as champion with 6.01 meters, while in the 800 meters, Kenyans Wyclife Kinyamal and Ferguson Cheruiyot dominated with 1:43.94 and 1:44.45, respectively.
