Rolando Luna's trio will offer the French public at the prestigious Jazz in Marciac festival an approach to the musical richness of Cuba with their presentation on July 30, announced today by cultural promoter Carmen Mayans.

In dialogue with Prensa Latina, Mayans recalled that the young pianist Luna received on the island together with double bassist Gastón Joya the Cubadisco 2020-2021 award just a few weeks ago, for the phonogram Fusión de almas.

The promoter, recognized this year by the French Senate for her contribution to relations between both countries, emphasized that the presentation of the ambassadors of Cuban music at the famous event is part of several activities that for the rest of 2021 will help promote on French soil the talent and culture of the largest of the Antilles.

In addition to Luna and Joya, drummer Rodney Barreto will complete the trio, which will have as special guest on trumpet Carlos Sarduy.

In the promotion of the new edition of Jazz in Marciac, scheduled from July 24 to August 4 in the southern commune, Luna is presented as one of the most brilliant and recognized Cuban pianists of his generation.

Likewise, it points out that the island's trio will offer the public a musical universe that wonderfully combines poetry, improvisation and virtuosity.

Jazz in Marciac could not be celebrated last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, which multiplies expectations for the return, which will include in its extensive programming the emblematic bands Kool & the Gang and Earth, Wind & Fire and artists such as Leee John, Kyle Eastwood, Brad Mehldau, Zucchero, Airelle Besson and Géraldine Laurent. In past versions, the event hosted renowned figures, from Sting, Santana, Herbie Hancock, George Benson and Joe Cocker to Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton Marsalis, Nina Simone, Ray Charles, Al Di Meola, Paco de Lucía and B.B. King.

For Cuba, outstanding artists Omara Portuondo, Chucho Valdés, Gonzalo Rubalcaba and the Buena Vista Social Club, among others, gave successful presentations in Marciac.
