At 99 years old, Cuban aristocrat feels satisfied about being Spanish and a marquess

July 5, 2018

Yesterday, Thursday, July 5, her family celebrated the 99th birthday of "Manana," as everyone calls her, at a gathering at her home in Coral Gables, a residential area in Miami-Dade County that is distinguished by its homes with Spanish architecture and its streets with names like Granada, Valencia, Alhambra, and Seville.

In addition to her closest family, a pianist friend attended the party to perform the songs that "Manana" likes to sing, who this year has received two pieces of good news in advance, about which she is "very happy," says her son, Luis de la Vega.

Thanks to a court ruling, she has recovered the marquisate of Campo Florido. Not content with that, María Elena de Cárdenas y González, born in Havana in 1919, is also claiming the marquisate of Bellavista.
