Silvio Rodríguez, Serrat and the Dúo Dinámico have "a second youth" on Spotify

Songs by Silvio Rodríguez, Joan Manuel Serrat, and Dúo Dinámico are "living a second youth" on the Spotify music platform during the lockdown due to the coronavirus State of Alarm and are at the top of the number of plays.

In total, in the streams on Spotify between April 1 and 7, a 54% increase has been detected in users who have created 'oldie' themed playlists. 'Monólogo', by Silvio Rodríguez; 'Día luna...día pena', by Manu Chao, and 'Arriba los corazones', by Antonio Flores are three of the 90s songs that have become most popular again in recent days in Spain.

As for the 80s, the star songs are 'Resistiré', by Dúo Dinámico, which has become one of the anthems of the lockdown; 'Rabo de nube', by Silvio Rodríguez, and 'Déjame', by Los Secretos. From the 70s decade, songs like '¿Qué hago ahora?', by Silvio Rodríguez, 'Un día tú, un día yo', by Julio Iglesias, and 'Habanera del primer amor', by Vainica Doble shine brightly.

Finally, from the 60s, songs like 'Cantares', by Joan Manuel Serrat; 'Quisiera ser', by Dúo Dinámico, and 'Rosas en el mar', by Massiel stand out. Furthermore, singer-songwriters are trending within this surge in the recovery of classics.

Among the songs that are growing the most on Spotify in Spain, songs by the aforementioned Silvio Rodríguez and Joan Manuel Serrat stand out, as well as those by Carlos Cano and Amancio Prada, with 'María la portuguesa' and 'Adiós río, adiós fontes', respectively. Additionally, songs by Luis Eduardo Aute, such as 'Quiéreme', have acquired even more relevance following his death.

BALCONY ANTHEMS

Spotify data also shows how the anthems of Spanish balconies are increasing in plays among users. Besides the Dúo Dinámico 'hit', in Spain the streams of songs like 'Sobreviviré', by Mónica Naranjo; the version of 'Libre', by El Chaval de la Peca, and 'Y Viva España', by Manolo Escobar have grown.

On a global level, there has also been an increase in streams of music from the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. The songs that users have most added to their playlists by decade have been 'Jailhouse Rock', by the iconic Elvis Presley, in the case of the 50s; 'At Last', by Etta James, the favorite song of the 60s; 'Ain't No Sunshine', by Bill Withers, protagonist of the 70s; or 'Take on Me', by A-ha, among others.

One of the artists with the most streams during this time is Cyndi Lauper with 'Girls Just Want to Have Fun', which has reached more than 2.3 million streams between April 1 and 7. "Every artist's dream is that their music can transmit a feeling of well-being, fun or inspiration," Lauper herself has noted.
