The single will be available starting August 20th on digital platforms and is part of a unique archive that captures the sound of the singer-songwriter's most exuberant era, and showcases one of his most unusual facets.
The song was recorded together with Diákara, one of the main exponents of the Cuban jazz genre.
After Silvio Rodríguez, the greatest representative of the Nueva Trova movement, cataloged as one of the greatest and most influential Cuban singer-songwriters in Latin America, delivered the album "Para la espera" (2020), he now surprises us with more unreleased songs taken from the vault, those pending releases he had to bring to light.
With a record production spanning almost five decades and including more than 40 albums, among studio works, live records and collaborations with other artists; there exists an extraordinary catalog from which he continues to give something to talk about, and does so again with the song "Acerca de los padres", originally recorded in 1991, alongside the latin-jazz supergroup Diákara, who accompanied the great poet and musician Silvio Rodríguez for a long time.
At that time, Silvio gathered for the occasion with one of the most amazing formations in the history of Cuban music: a combo made up of legends such as keyboardist Emilio Vega and Oscarito Valdés Jr. (drums), and collaborators such as the legendary pianist Chucho Valdés.
"Acerca de los padres" is part of a unique archive that captures the sound of the legendary singer-songwriter's most exuberant era, and showcases one of his most unusual facets. The song was originally composed in 1972, and first popularized by Chilean Isabel Parra (daughter of Violeta) and later by Dominican Sonia Silvestre.
In this way, the universal Cuban, recognized for songs like "Ojalá", "Playa Girón", "Unicornio", "Sueño con Serpientes", "Vamos a andar" or "La maza", which today are authentic anthems for several generations of Spanish speakers throughout the world, has recovered this impressive version recorded 30 years ago in the PolyGram studios in Mexico City, Mexico, alongside Diákara, which combined the universal expression of Jazz with Afro-Cuban rhythms.
This release also coincides with the announcement of the Cuban master's return to the stage, who will perform on October 2nd at the WiZink Center in Madrid.
