Cuban high jump record holder, Javier Sotomayor, is making headlines these days in the Spanish press, and at the Madrid Sports Museum his world record of 2.45 meters is coming back to life, according to Prensa Latina.
Several local media outlets such as Marca, Mundo Deportivo and the interview program La Resistencia are full of praise for the Cuban Olympic champion who achieved his best results on Spanish soil.
Sotomayor is invited to participate in various activities, in addition to the meet organized by the Italian city of Udine, where Luis Enrique Zayas, Pan American champion from Lima 2019, will make his competitive debut this season.
The Prince of the Heights award recipient expressed to the Spanish media "that his record would fall at some point, because nothing is eternal, and the only way it won't is if they eliminate the high jump."
