Cuban Pavel Martínez Salgado, from Camagüey, qualified for the Ibero-American Design Biennial in its eighth edition (BID22), and his work also advanced to the voting phase in the Arte y Joya competition, called from Madrid.
The ring named Polimita belongs to the CIRCUM collection, was made with silver and cubic zirconia, with measurements of 22 by 30 millimeters, and is in the contemporary jewelry yearbook through the Arte y Joya competition link.
As for BID22, his project competes for the awards of the edition, both in its category and for the BID Prizes, which will be awarded by the jury made up of Katrin Müller-Russo (Germany), Gustavo Greco (Brazil), Candela Cort (Spain), Odile Hainaut and Claire Pijoulat (France/USA) and Alejandro Magallanes (Mexico).
Martínez Salgado's project will be included in the official printed catalog of the Biennial and online, in the gallery of works on the website of the space that brings together the best design from Latin America, Spain and Portugal from the last two years.
In statements to Adelante, the Camagüey goldsmith said that BID22 is scheduled for November 21-25, with a program that will cover reflection topics and practical workshops around design, aimed at both professionals and students and the general public.
Member of the Cuban Association of Artisan Artists (ACAA), Martínez Salgado has specialized in setting, aspires to establish a gallery-workshop called P&lima and wants to represent dance in a series of sculptures that connect him to his professional training as a classical dancer and later member of the Endedans Contemporary Ballet.
