As part of the official selection of the 42nd International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, the documentary Running for the Revolution, Corriendo por la Revolución will premiere in Havana next Saturday, December 5th, revealing passages and memories about the great Cuban athlete Alberto Juantorena.
Directed by British filmmaker Mark Craig, the material was filmed over the last five years; it contains testimonies from people close to the champion throughout his life and athletes from around the world. The documentary by Stopwatch Productions in association with Haviland Digital, also had the cinematography direction and production for Cuba by filmmaker Roberto Chile.
On Saturday, December fifth at 8:00 p.m., the cinema 23 y 12 in the capital will open its theater to enjoy a film that not only recognizes the life and work of Alberto Juantorena, but also the country and the Revolution that shaped him as an athlete of international caliber.
Named The Elegant One of the Tracks, Alberto Juantorena Danger was born in Santiago de Cuba on December 3, 1950, and in his sports record he displays his titles in the 400 and 800 meter events at the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games, a feat that no one has achieved to this day, and having been a two-time world record holder in that latter distance.
