The renowned Cuban actress Coralita Veloz, one of the most beloved in Cuba, has received the National Radio and Television Award, the highest honor granted on the Island for a lifetime of work in the sector.

Her daughter Tahimí Alvariño, who is also a popular artist in Cuba, wanted to pay a special tribute to her mother for such a well-deserved recognition and has dedicated a touching message to her through her social networks to congratulate her and in turn express how proud she feels of her.

Coralita, who will turn 71 on November 4th, has an extensive artistic career that also includes film and theater. Daughter of the famous actors and singers Ramón Veloz and Coralia Fernández, her life developed from a very young age in the television medium, where she has acted in multiple serials and novels, as well as in the hosting of musical programs. She worked in well-known films such as Hasta cierto punto, by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea, and Lista de espera, by Juan Carlos Tabío.

This year, several Cuban figures from both sectors have received the distinguished National Radio and Television Award. Among them were Diana Rosa Suárez, Héctor Echemendía, Obelia Blanco, Enrique Molina; Dr. María Dolores Ortiz Díaz, intellectual and criminal law specialist on the program Escriba y Lea; and Ana María Hernández Guerra, head of the Transmissions Group and Videotape Production of Cuban Television.

The aforementioned recognition, created by the Cuban Institute of Radio and Television (ICRT), has been awarded since 2002 to living persons only once throughout their professional career with the objective of acknowledging their outstanding work over the years.
