The actress Ana de Armas, of Cuban and Spanish nationality, assured on Monday that she "has no words" to describe what she feels about her nomination for the Golden Globes as best actress in a comedy or musical.

"Give me a minute, people. I still have no words! This is crazy!!! aaaah!!", wrote the actress -in English- on her official Twitter profile minutes after her candidacy was announced for her performance in "Knives Out", by filmmaker Rian Johnson.

De Armas will compete for the award against Awkwafina (The Farewell), Cate Blanchett (Where'd You Go, Bernadette), Beanie Feldstein (Booksmart) and Emma Thompson (Late Night), the comedy actresses selected by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) for the 77th edition of their awards.

Precisely, the actress recently spoke with EFE in an interview about the release of this film, about which she assured that before she "did not believe she was a comic actress".

"I found the script totally original: so well-rounded, so well tied together and without a missing link in the chain. Everything is so well thought out that in Rian's hands I thought there was no flaw", she said about the film, also a candidate for best comedy.

The actress has achieved this first nomination with her first comedy role since she landed in Hollywood, after succeeding in Spanish television with series like "El Internado".

"I did not believe I was a comic actress. And that made me a little nervous because the tone of the film is so specific. Marta is the most normal character, in quotation marks, in the entire story. I was worried about giving her all that truth, which was important for the audience to root for her from the first moment. And, at the same time, not be out of tone: to be balanced with the rest of the actors and have that comedy a little histrionic".

The actress also addressed the reasons why she has rejected some roles of Latin women, which fall into "stereotypes".

"It's not that I reject playing a Latina. I am Cuban, proud to be Cuban, and I will play a Latina my whole life because it's what I represent.

What I reject are the Latina roles that have nothing to contribute and that highlight characteristics that are not necessarily what represents the Latin community", she said.

"Not all of us are prostitutes, thieves or maids. They are very limited roles and that is what I reject: when the character has nothing positive, that paints another image of us. And Marta does.

It is the only character that has values that the rest of the family does not have, no matter how much money or power they have", she added.

The Golden Globes give four nominations to Joker and leave Game of Thrones out. Joker achieved four nominations, including best dramatic film, best actor for Joaquin Phoenix's work and best director.

Repeating absurd choices from the past, since for example Leonardo DiCaprio was moved to the comedy or musical category for his work in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association revealed the nominees for the next edition of the Golden Globes.

The ceremony, which highlights the best in film and television, is one of the most important in the industry and on this occasion strongly highlighted films like Marriage Story, The Irishman and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Meanwhile, Joker achieved four nominations, including best dramatic film, best actor for Joaquin Phoenix's work and best director.

Another minor element lies in the fact that Parasite, the South Korean film by Bong Joon-ho, achieved a couple of awards in categories outside of best foreign film. The same goes for Pain and Glory by Pedro Almodóvar, as Antonio Banderas was also nominated as best actor.

Meanwhile, regarding television, Game of Thrones was not considered, beyond a nomination for Kit Harington as best actor.

The ceremony will take place on January 5th and the following are the nominees.
