Before the end of the year, the Book of the Month dedicated its space on December 17 to children's literature, with the presentation of the work Papaloteando, by writer Nersys Felipe, belonging to the El Duende collection, by Ediciones Loynaz.

With illustrations by Yancarlos Perugorría, the publication "is a book full of magic; first of all, the magic of memory, of illusion, of affection, of rescuing the beautiful, endearing and transcendent things of life," explained the volume's presenter, also writer Enrique Pérez Díaz.

The renowned narrator born in Pinar del Río, starting from the simplest anecdote, achieves a framework of love regardless of age, creed or any way of thinking and viewing the world as an all-encompassing whole. Regarding this, Pérez Díaz clarifies: "from grandparents to grandchildren, the taste for simplicity is passed down."

In the story, the protagonist discovers a kite belonging to her grandmother, an object that holds the stories of a past, of experiences that will never repeat themselves in that same way. The author invites us to reflect on these themes from the sweetness and delicacy of a language conceived for children, without resorting to elaborate phrases or convoluted dialogue.

"Grandparents and children live in worlds different from those of adults, Nersys Felipe seems to tell us with this ingenious tale, because they do not renounce their dreams. She pours her tenderness and reminds us, once again, that in simple things are usually found the true things of life."

On a visual level, the book catches the attention of potential readers through its colors and the joy of the faces that appear from the cover. Entering its pages is to walk through the doors of fantasy with a story without many complexities, to learn to value what really matters, that experience that can help you grow.

In the back cover note of the title, other intentions are expressed: "a plea from childhood for a world where its rights and its way of seeing life are respected." What is interesting about this writer is that time has not dimmed her luminous vision of the world, perhaps the secret is to stay close to children.

As an intellectual, Nersys Felipe has dedicated herself to stimulating knowledge in new generations, as an essential premise in her professional life. Awarded the National Prize for Literature (2011) and founder of the Guiñol Theater group in Pinar del Río, she has earned important recognitions and her work has reached Russia, Lithuania, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, among other countries. At 84 years old, she still gives us dreams in the form of books, this time to discover the magic of a kite and what lies hidden in the fibers of its strings.
