Cuban music climbs to new positions with the inclusion of a song by singer Yoyo Ibarra in Billboard magazine's Viva Friday list, which today keeps it in the selection made by its editors.

The chosen song is the single "Quédate", which included in the compact disc Viral, the most recent by the artist, appears accompanied by a music video filmed in New York City under the direction of American David Weber.

The notes on Ibarra's song are signed by Laila Cobo, a Colombian writer with a long and well-known career related to music and executive director of content and programming for Billboard Latino.

About "Quédate" she noted that it is 'heartfelt and memorable', qualifications motivated by Ibarra's focus 'on current music thanks to his melodic creations that captivate and show a fertile universe of possibilities'.

The evolution of the young singer and songwriter since he began in music through the paths of trova is evident in the material, which shows not only new horizons in his proposal, but also an evident commitment to the most recent of a diversity of genres used with shrewdness.

That is Quédate, an example that Billboard sees as part of a work representative of contemporary pop, where trova, tropical music and urban music coexist.

Ibarra, designer turned musician, made his recording debut in 2009 with the album Se subasta, which published by the Egrem label presented his credentials, very much related at that time to trova, rock and pop.

That production was followed by the compact disc Tropical, also with Egrem, already with new sounds resulting from his interest in Cuban popular music and other Caribbean rhythms.

In 2016 he records his second album Tropical, with which he ventures into Caribbean rhythms and Cuban popular music.

The presence of the Cuban and his song Quédate on the Billboard list is another recognition of Cuban music, which little by little, but with steady steps, has made its way into the complex American market.
