The donation was made by relatives of the singer-songwriter who passed away last February and musicologist Sonia Pérez-Cassola, director of the cultural institution, expressed that the pieces constitute a significant addition to the patrimony treasured by the museum.
These objects represent a tangible testimony to his outstanding artistic legacy and social commitment, affirmed Pérez-Cassola.
Singer Annie Garcés, present at the ceremony, highlighted Sosa's ability to captivate national and international audiences with compositions rooted in Cuban musical tradition and his commitment to rescuing cultural values.
His authentic style, representative of Cuba, allowed him to transcend borders, participating in numerous cultural and political events as a representative of the Caribbean nation, she stated.
The donation of these personal objects to the Cuban Music Museum not only honors Sosa's memory, but also ensures that his music and his legacy continue to inspire new generations of artists and contribute to the preservation of Cuban musical heritage.
