The Yoruba Cultural Association of Cuba informed through its social media the unfortunate death of Ángel Custodio Padrón Cárdenas, better known as "Bebo", who served as vice president of said institution.
"Bebo", who was born in 1928, was the longest-living Ifá priest on the Island and was also one of the most admired, respected and beloved people within Afro-Cuban religion in the country.
"We sadly inform all our members, friends and followers that, this morning, our beloved Bebo, Ángel Custodio Padrón Cárdenas, Awo Eyiogbe, vice president of our institution and the longest-living Ifá priest in Cuba, passed away", wrote the Yoruba Association with the aim of paying tribute to him.
For their part, Cuban religious practitioners associated with the branch of this organization that has its headquarters in Miami, also showed their deep sorrow at the death of "Bebo", since he apparently was a person who was very respectful of Yoruba traditions.
"The Yoruba Cultural Association USA Miami and the world is in mourning for the death of our godfather, teacher and brother ángel custodio Ángel Custodio Padrón Cárdenas. Our commander, teacher, a wise man, an honorable babalawo, a mason, a magnificent abakua, mokongo, man and friend has died. Pain fills our hearts and that of my family. Our association is in mourning because he was our obbá. May the great architect of the universe, Olofin and Olodumare light his path to ara onu, and give him eternal rest. We lost a brother, but we gained an ancestor. Rest in peace", they expressed.
A large number of people have added to these messages of condolence and have wished that the soul of this man may rest peacefully.
"There are no words to describe this dawn today. May our idol, our elder rope rest in peace. A very strong blow for all of us who idolized him. May Olodumare receive him with all the honors he deserves and from wherever you are may your light always reach us and guide us", wrote a user.
