Liván Moinelo remains unreadable for Japanese baseball batters

June 23, 2020

The left-handed pitcher Liván Moinelo worked a flawless inning yesterday to continue his dominance over the bullpen with the SoftBank Hawks, in the recently started 2020 campaign in the Japanese Professional Baseball League (NPB).

In this game for the Pacific zone, in which the Hawks emerged victorious 9-6 against the Seibu Lions, the swift Vueltabajero pitcher struck out two of the three batters he faced in the role of visitor at the MetLife Dome in Tokorozawa.

Moinelo has started the current campaign very accurately, as he has pitched to six opponents with a total of five strikeouts, since he retired by that means the three he saw standing at home plate in his debut last Friday against the Lotte Marines.

He has allowed only one double and his earned run average is 0.0.

In the previous season with the Hawks, Moinelo made 60 appearances in which he accumulated four saves and an effectiveness of 1.52, becoming one of the best relievers on his team.

Among Cuban players performing in the NPB without being contracted by the National Baseball Director, the honors today go to the Villa Clara native Dayán Viciedo, first baseman and cleanup hitter for the Chunichi Dragons, who went 5-2 with one run scored, but could not prevent his team's defeat by 2-3 against the DeNa Stars, in the Central league.

The powerful hitters Alfredo Despaigne and Yurisbel Gracial are still in Cuba, awaiting a way to move to Japanese soil to join the SoftBank roster, the current NPB champion.
