Leinier Domínguez Obtains U.S. Citizenship

Cuban chess Grandmaster Leinier Domínguez, lauded as one of the best exponents this Island has produced in this sport despite his recent defeat at the 2022 World Olympiad, received U.S. citizenship with joy.

"The idol of Güines" represented the North American team at the concluded competition held in Chennai, India, finishing in fifth place below all expectations. The Cuban finished with five victories, two defeats, and three draws.

On August 13th, he shared with his followers another one of his achievements accompanied by his family. "I finally became a U.S. citizen!" Domínguez expressed on his social networks. His post was filled with messages of joy and congratulations from his admirers around the world.

Leinier, at 38 years old, is ranked 14th in the world rankings and fifth in the United States, and after José Raúl Capablanca, has become the Latino who has traced the most history in this mental sport.
