The Cuban Grand Master Leinier Domínguez, who now competes under the flag of the United States since the federation of that country naturalized him, won the title of the Sparkassen Chess-Meeting chess tournament in Dortmund, Germany, and this performance served him to return to the top ten of the FIDE world ranking.

On the last day of competition held this Sunday, the native of Guines drew, playing with black pieces, his game against Polish player Radoslaw Wojtaszek (2.737). His performance allowed him to reach 4.5 points out of seven possible and he surpassed by half a point precisely the Polish player who finished second.

Domínguez totaled two victories without losses with five draws, which allowed him to accumulate 2.763 live Elo points that mark his best performance in his lifetime.

A few weeks ago the grand master achieved his third title with Saint Petersburg of the Russian Chess League, after having defended it on six occasions, the International Grand Master manages to be the champion and cannot contain his emotion for having done good work.

Once again this chess talent demonstrates his intellectual abilities and all chess lovers and fans of his performance as Grand Master appreciate it.

Leinier's transfer to the USA represents a blow to the Cuban Chess Federation, which lost the best player in its recent history and, following the departure also of Grand Masters Lázaro Bruzón and Yuniesky Quesada, has been left without representative players.
