Cuban actor Leandro Cáceres, known for his character "Tabaquito" in the Cuban TV series "Lucha Contra Bandidos", is adding to the list of artists who in recent months have left the island to settle in the United States.
In early December, Cáceres, originally from Santiago de Cuba, was seen at the "90 miles" buoy off Key West, south of Florida, and wrote: "I didn't leave, I just moved away a little bit. From farther away, it sounds more beautiful".
The 34-year-old actor and comedian also publicly thanked the support of his colleague "Boncó Quiñongo", who opened doors for him in the entertainment world in Miami.
"Follow me on Instagram… @cubanoconhumor. Thanks to Boncó for the invitation. See you on Friday at AÑEJO", he urged from his social networks.
Cáceres first appeared on Cuban television in the magic program "Dicho y Hecho", on Canal Habana, and later gained more popularity for his work in the youth series "Mucho Ruido", by director Mariela López Galano.
"I went through several theater groups that nourished me a lot as an actor. First I was in Pálpito, with Ariel Bouza, Maikel Chávez, Corina, the late Xiomara Palacios; it was a group where I learned a lot. Then I ventured into Argos Teatro, with Carlos Celdrán, and later I began to combine dramatic work with comedy when I joined the group La Oveja Negra, in 2012, at which time I also joined the Promoter Center for Humor", he said in an interview this year to Radio Reloj.
Cáceres added that "I have always cultivated comedy, since I was a student. I liked to write small texts to perform at Thursday gatherings at school; we even made parodies of theatrical works that I attended or about our lives as scholarship students, which in art schools has its particularities".
This year the actor filmed a Japanese film and developed in Cuba the project "Habana Humor Club", in which he performed comedy monologues. With the group "La Oveja Negra" he had a show that would premiere this month, but Cáceres didn't want to wait any longer and has arrived in Miami, becoming part of the current migration crisis.
