CNN en Español announces that Cuban writer and poet Wendy Guerra is joining the network as a contributor and analyst, as well as creator of alternative content for digital and linear platforms. Wendy will also conduct interviews, with a very personal touch, with major names in the world of art and culture, whose social and political realities are intrinsic to their works.

Guerra joins the group of CNN en Español contributors composed of: María Cardona, Roberto Izurieta, Rocio Vélez, Octavio Pescador, Al Cardenas, Jorge Dávila Miguel, Carlos Alberto Montaner, Jorge Castañeda, Mari Rodriguez-Ichaso and Frida Ghitis.

Wendy Guerra is one of the most important literary authors in Latin America. She writes articles that have appeared in magazines and newspapers around the world, including: El País, The New York Times, The Miami Herald, El Mundo, La Vanguardia, among other outlets. Her first poetry collection, Platea a Oscuras, won her the Prize from the University of La Habana when she was only sixteen years old.

Her first novel, Todos se van (2006), based on her diaries from childhood and adolescence in Cuba, received the Bruguera Prize and was selected by the newspaper El País as Best Novel in 2006; with this title she also received the Carbet des Lycéens award in France in 2009. The English translation was selected by Latina magazine as one of the nine best books of the year published by a Latina writer in the United States. In 2014, it was adapted to film by Colombian filmmaker Sergio Cabrera.

In 2010 she was named Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France, and in 2016 she was elevated to the title of Oficial of the same order. In 2013 her novel Nunca fui primera Dama was brought to the stage by the Argentine theater company Teatro Sha under the direction of Valeria Grossi.

Wendy Guerra has published 7 novels and 3 poetry collections, some of which have been translated into 23 languages.

"It is a pride to be able to count on Wendy as part of our group of analysts and contributors in the area of thought leadership. Her observations of current society's reality, vast experience as one of the most sought-after authors of these times, and her unique life experience will surely help make her voice a great contribution to CNN en Español," noted Cynthia Hudson, senior vice president and general manager of CNN en Español and Hispanic Strategy for CNN/US.

On the other hand, Wendy Guerra expressed, "In the fullness of my literary career, life surprises me, merging my authorial work with audiovisual media, and now the most important news network in the world opens its doors to me to give visibility to alternative voices and universes that need to be heard. Learning from the great masters of this network, contributing to the audience my heritage and personal style in a creative and enriching way, being coherent with my biography, without forgetting where I come from and to whom I am indebted, is, without a doubt, my greatest challenge going forward."

Guerra will speak with Marcelo Longobardi about the details of her childhood, her family life, and the path traveled until becoming one of the most recognized Latin American writers in the world. Without a doubt, En dialogo con Longobardi is dressed in art and culture on Sunday, October 3rd at 9 P.M. (Miami time) on CNN en Español.
