Matanzas native Johen Lefont set a world record this Wednesday for ball control in an unprecedented modality, at the pool of the Complejo Baraguá in the capital.

It was in the category of longest time keeping a soccer ball balanced on the head, with a five-kilogram weight around the waist. The time was 7:02.10 minutes.

Lefont maintained the ball's balance while performing arm and leg exercises in the water to stay afloat.

"I had a special interest in achieving it. It's a new test and I prepared very well, with physical exercises both on land and in the water. I was completely exhausted," Lefont commented exclusively with the Cuban News Agency.

The so-called Dolphin of Cuban soccer asserted that the legs are what work the most in this weighted attempt in order to maintain balance. That's why he trained a lot with semi-squats.

"This is a new modality created by me, which incorporates the weight and makes the work even more difficult. It's unprecedented and I've already made the proposal to those in charge of accrediting attempts in the Guinness Book of World Records," Lefont affirmed.

The Dolphin of Cuban soccer currently holds nine world records officially recognized by Guinness World Records.
