For the first time, music star Gloria Estefan, her daughter Emily and her cousin, television host Lili Estefan, will put all their cards on the red table.

The three family members, who historically have been quite private, open up about different personal matters in the Facebook Watch series "Red Table Talk: The Estefans", including sexuality, love, trauma and loss.

One thing they will not address is politics, because according to Gloria they want to unite people, not divide them.

Gloria Estefan said she will also talk about the traumatic accident she suffered more than 30 years ago, when a truck crashed into her tour bus during a snowstorm, fracturing one of her vertebrae.

"It was important for me to show people that you can overcome difficult things, and that was my main motivation in getting through it. So that's one of the topics we talk about, you know, close calls where you could lose your life and you get a second chance", she said.

"El Gordo y La Flaca" host on Univision Lili Estefan, 53, said her aunt Gloria, 63, was the most open when talking about sexuality. Gloria's 25-year-old daughter, musician Emily, agreed.

"I think sometimes the ideas we have change, like my mom has a millennial opinion and I have my grandmother's opinion", Emily Estefan pointed out.

Some episodes will also have musical elements, like Gloria and her daughter sitting next to a red piano to sing an improvised song.

During the first of eight episodes, which debuts Wednesday, Lili Estefan talks about her painful divorce from Cuban businessman Lorenzo Luaces after 25 years of marriage. She said she was not ready to speak about it publicly until now.

"It was a very public divorce, you know, from a person with whom I thought I had a perfect life, a perfect family, everything perfect. Life simply teaches you that it's not like that", she expressed.

In a clip from the program, Lili Estefan explains how she found out about her marital problems. Shortly before going live on air, her husband called her to tell her that a paparazzo had caught him with another woman and was asking for $200,000 in exchange for the photos.

"For three years people were telling me: 'You're going to get through this. You're going to find a man. It's going to be perfect. You'll see when you sign the divorce'", she added.

But right after signing the documents in February, the coronavirus pandemic arrived.

"Now I laugh because I tell everyone that, between the Botox and the mask, how am I going to attract a guy like that?", she said jokingly.

For the matriarch of the trio, Gloria Estefan, the most difficult topic to address on the program was the death of her mother three years ago.

"I've gone through many really difficult moments in my life and the only thing that made me seek therapy was the loss of my mom", she admitted.

Gloria Estefan has a degree in psychology and communications, so turning to an expert voice to discuss sensitive topics was very important to her.

"Many people can't afford therapy, but I really think it helps to listen", she noted.

"Red Table Talk: The Estefans", recorded in Miami, will air weekly and will feature guests including Kate del Castillo, Michelle Rodríguez and Rosie O'Donnell. The program follows the format of the popular "Red Table Talk" by Jada Pinkett Smith.
