The Federation of Cuban Women repudiates the publications that Fernando Bécquer recently made on his social networks for considering them disrespectful, highly violent against Cuban women.

The aforementioned publications are, above all, evidence of the machismo that still persists and a form of symbolic violence that should not prosper in our society.

They are a mockery of justice by a person who has been found guilty of sexual violence, and of the work that has been done since 1959 in pursuit of the true emancipation of Cuban women.

Actions and publications like these are intolerable and must be denounced and punished for constituting messages of hate.

Bécquer insists on using social networks to indirectly harass, intimidate, demean his victims and also extend this to women and feminists, to the Federation of Cuban Women.

In his texts there is a profound expression of misogyny that shows his contempt for women, and ignorance about what feminism is. Far from showing respect and remorse before justice, he acts with total impunity.

We consider these facts serious because cases of gender violence and sexual violence deeply wound the victims and society.

Justice seeks to place in common sense the respect for the integrity and dignity of women in their diversity, but it also requires a response in the social and cultural sphere, from the entire population, of zero tolerance for these expressions.

Cuban troubadour Fernando Bécquer, who was convicted of sexual assault against several women, composed a song dedicated to feminists.

Under the title of Feminist Guaracha, Bécquer wrote verses in which he describes what his ideal woman should be like: someone "without complexes and without resentment," "a little bit perverted," who doesn't cause him trouble and "who doesn't seem like a spouse in any way."

"That she not be so university-educated and that she like country music. I want a feminist, who undresses in plain sight. Who doesn't eat so much gossip and doesn't write more empty lyrics," goes the chorus.

Not even three months ago Bécquer was found guilty of committing sexual abuse against several women and sentenced to five years of corrective labor without incarceration, a measure that, according to the Penal Code, obligates him to maintain good conduct at the workplace where he is assigned.

The musician shared his new song on his social networks, in which several spelling errors can be seen.

Below is the text of the song as it appears on his Facebook wall.

"I want a feminist, to warm up her rhythm.

To roll around in her bush, so she screams chauvinist at me.

I want a feminist to give me affection, to refresh her bunion, to savor her lips.

I want a feminist, but yes a feminine one, a woman without barriers, open like the bible.

I want a feminist, who responds to my song, who refreshes my line,

Who doesn't scream at me

How much longer.

I want a feminist, who doesn't like scheming, who knows how to make a stew, who tells me I'm hers.

I want a feminist, a little bit perverted,

an ambidextrous pitcher, a goddess who loves me.

Chorus and guide:

I want a feminist, who undresses in plain sight.

A flower that never wilts, an illusion that stirs the birdseed.

I want a feminist, who undresses in plain sight.

That she not be so university-educated and that she like country music.

I want a feminist, who undresses in plain sight.

Who doesn't eat so much gossip and doesn't write more empty lyrics.

I want a feminist who undresses in plain sight

Who undresses like crazy and that way kiss me all little by little.

(Montuno)

I want a feminist,

someone without complexes and without resentment.

I want a feminist

To guaracha and live the moment.

I want a feminist

Who doesn't cause me trouble and doesn't cut me off.

I want a feminist

And who in no way seems like a spouse.

I want a feminist

For love and not for war.

I want a feminist

In the plains as well as in the mountains.

I want a feminist who calls for unity and not division.

I want a feminist and that one day she applauds me with her heart.

I want a feminist, to warm up her rhythm to roll around in her bush, so she screams chauvinist at me."

The trial against Bécquer took place in October and lasted more than 12 hours, and in it about 30 victims testified accusing him of committing violent sexual acts without their consent.

Activists and groups defending women's rights carried out important work in the case, both in its dissemination and in accompanying and advising the victims.

The feminist platform Yo Sí Te Creo en Cuba, which led the campaign to try the musician for sexist violence, assured that the lenient sentence imposed by the Cuban court was a disgrace to any justice system.

In November, the troubadour filed an appeal in the Provincial Court.
