The Cuban broadcaster Ibrahim Aput passed away this Monday in Havana at the age of 91. Becoming the dean of Cuban broadcasters and winner of the National Radio Prize in 2009, Aput worked in recent decades at Radio Reloj, where without leaving the microphones he trained several generations of professionals.
On his Twitter account, the general director of Cuban Radio, Onelio Castillo, lamented the sad news: "Our Broadcaster and Teacher Ibrahím Aput passed away, National Radio Prize winner, example of ethics, perseverance and professional quality. To family members and colleagues at Radio Reloj, his beloved station, our most heartfelt condolences".
At barely 19 years old he began working at the radio station in his native San Luis, in Santiago de Cuba, where unexpectedly he had to make a substitution in the booth, which led him to enter a world that he always recognized as fascinating and committed to the public.
The late broadcaster Ibrahim Aput worked in national radio and television where he obtained numerous awards, but above all the recognition of an audience that will now miss one of the identifying voices of Radio.
