On the morning of December 7, 2021, Felisa Jar González passed away at the age of 97, a renowned Cuban actress in Television, Radio, Theater, and Cuban Cinema. Daughter of Galicians, she was born on November 8, 1924. Raised in the Havana municipality of Diez de Octubre, she participated from a very young age in the activities of the Artística Gallega where she performed for entertainment. She made her first performances at age 18 in radio programs, on COCO.
In 1946 she enrolled in the Municipal School of Dramatic Art. She completed studies in Commercial Secretarial work and later, a Bachelor's degree in Performing Arts at the Higher Institute of Art in acting.
In theater, she distinguished herself with her performances in A Streetcar Named Desire, Thanks Doctor, Wedding Anniversary, The Moon on the Telephone, The Other Brother, Cecilia Valdés with the Lyric Theater and in The Leap.
On radio, her first role was in the American work, "Our Town". She worked in the adventure "The Eagle", the children's show "The Pirulí Family" and the socially-oriented "Us Women". She alternated in the stories: "Your Love Story" and "The Cuban Novel". For her work in "When Blood Resembles Fire", she received an acting award from UNEAC.
Her film debut was in 1948, with the role of Luisa, in the film Cecilia Valdés. Later in When Women Rule and Tahimí or The Fisherman's Daughter.
In the 1960s she starred in Television, the telenovelas "The Perverse Angel" and "Sweet Maria" as well as the programs "Horizons" and "Great Novels" (The Red and the Black), stories and theatrical pieces.
In addition to her artistic training, she was a commercial model, radio announcer, acting professor and theatrical producer. Because of her professional trajectory, she deserved the National Television Prize, the distinction of Artist of Merit of Radio and Television and the ACTUAR Prize for Lifetime Achievement.
