The legendary Cuban boxer Justo Emilio Correa passed away on March 11, 2024 at the age of 71, leaving behind a tremendous legacy of triumphs and conquests in the ring.
It hurts to learn that Olympic, world, and Pan-American champion Justo Emilio Correa Vaillant has passed away, a great among the greats, expressed Osvaldo Vento, president of the Cuban Institute of Sports (Inder).
In a post on the social network X, the official sent his condolences "to his son, who made the news public, to the rest of the family, and to his closest friends."
Correa, a native of Santiago de Cuba, won the gold medal at the Munich 1972 Olympic Games and also became champion at the Boxing World Championship in Havana 1974, in addition to winning the title at the Cali 1971 Pan-American Games.
He shone as part of a legendary generation of #CubanBoxing. His style and results marked an era. He rose to the highest levels and demonstrated his standing as a Cuban worthy of his caliber as an athlete and trainer, published Inder in a statement on X.
