Yonder Alonso will try his luck starting today in a new role. According to MLB Network, the signal owned by Major League Baseball, the former ballplayer will join the live analyst staff.

The Cuban will make his screen debut today Friday, April 30th as one of the presenters of the renowned show Intentional Talk, whose host is Kevin Millar, a retired figure who played first base between 1998 and 2009.

"I am more than grateful to join the MLB Network team. And I cannot stop thanking everyone who has helped me reach this point," Alonso said through a statement. "For being recently retired, I am eager to have fun and contribute with new perspectives on the game and bring them to all baseball fans around the world."

Upon his arrival at the official signal of the Major Leagues, Alonso will join other Latinos who work as analysts in that medium, such as Pedro Martínez and Carlos Peña. Besides Martínez, there are immortals of the caliber of Jim Thome and John Smoltz.

Although his last game in the Big Tent was in 2019 with the Colorado Rockies, the islander retired at the end of the 2020 season.
