With another devastating knockout victory, the legend of Cuban boxing known as Erislandy Lara reaffirmed himself as the "oldest" world champion in professional boxing across all four major organizations and proved that age is often just a number.
The American Dream destroyed Michael Zerafa, the challenger for his 160-pound world title from the World Boxing Association, with a devastating knockout in the second round.
Zerafa tried to limit any possibility of the Cuban boxer hurting him, but Erislandy showed no mercy in that second round after having established control with the jab in the few minutes of fighting that had elapsed.
With this victory, Lara reaffirms himself as the oldest world champion in professional boxing across the 4 major organizations with just days remaining before he turns 41, if we only consider the main champions, since Ismael Barroso appears — for now — as interim WBA champion at 140 pounds.
But, if we're talking about main champions, The American Dream, who was born in Cuba in April of 1983, confirmed that he is like fine wine.
As an antidote for those who tend to criticize the so-called "Cuban style" — often unfairly — there is the power of Erislandy Lara, who has three consecutive knockouts and four in his last five victories.
The "oldest" world champion in professional boxing, Erislandy Lara, has earned the right to continue proving that he is nowhere near thinking about retiring from the ring.
