Erisbel Arruebarruena will stay with the Crocodiles until the end

Good news for the Matanzas Crocodiles in their aspirations to win the pennant in the current national series is that their star, shortstop Erisbel Arruebarruena, showed willingness to stay with the team throughout the entire campaign.

"I will be here the whole time, I don't plan to go play in any other league, I'm going to be with my team until the end," said the shortstop, who was unanimously chosen as the most valuable player in the first week of the season.

In these early stages of the competition he has displayed his power and has already accumulated three home runs, in addition to batting over .500 average, an offensive performance that led him to be selected as the weekly MVP. "El Grillo," as he is known by Cuban fans, described his stay of more than a month in the Nicaragua Professional League as beneficial, an important foundation in his preparation to now perform in the home tournament.

"The time in that league, although brief, has been key in my performance during this start, since I was barely able to train for more than a week in Matanzas," he commented.

"I'm calm, with more patience and discipline at the plate, and the numbers so far give credit to that," he said, and did not hide his aspiration to increase his home run total, to finish as the home run king, an area in which he already maintains an early competition with Santiago's Adriel Labrada, who leads with four home runs.

Stimulated by the enthusiasm with which the Matanzas fans enjoyed the title obtained in Series 59, what interests him most, he says, is maintaining overall performance to help his team. "Seeing my team crowned champion, that's what's most important," he said.
